Walyalup will be without defender Madi Scanlon in this weekend’s week 9 clash with the GWS Giants at Henson Park, after a head knock in the first quarter of the RAC Derby saw Scanlon be placed under concussion protocols.

AFLW High Performance Manager Corey Morris provided an update on Scanlon.

“Madi’s pulled up quite well from the weekend,” Morris said.

“Unfortunately (she) did fall into our concussion protocols, so we’ll look to progress her with them like we would with anyone else.”

Co-vice-captain Hayley Miller has missed the last two matches with calf soreness, and Morris said the decision of whether the 28-year-old is available against the Giants will come down to a risk management decision.

“Hayley was a genuine test last week and didn’t quite get through what we needed to see, so that’s why she was a late out,” Morris said.

“This week, we’ll look to progress her as we normally would, and it will come down to a risk management decision of if we’re willing to put her out there this weekend or if we leave her for next weekend.”

Forward Tara Stribley is progressing as planned with her ankle injury, with the potential of her being available as early as the week 10 match against the Western Bulldogs.

“Tara’s good – she’s done two Alter-G runs and progressed to a land run on Saturday and pulled up really well,” Morris said.

“So, we’ll look to continue to progress her running and hopefully get her into some change of direction soon.”
