Fremantle have named their team of 21 to take on the West Coast Eagles in the RAC Derby on Saturday afternoon, headlined by the return of co-vice-captain Hayley Miller.

Miller joins mid-forward Joanne Cregg as Fremantle's two inclusions, who will make her first appearance since the Club's week 2 clash with the Crows.

Miller has been named in the midfield after she was a late withdrawal from the week 7 clash with Carlton on Saturday due to calf soreness, while Cregg has been named on the interchange bench.

The duo replace Ari Hetherington (managed) who has been named as an emergency for the match, and Mikayla Morrison (omitted).

Ruck Mim Strom spoke to media on Thursday morning and touched on how important Miller is in the side’s midfield mix.

“Hayley’s huge. I’ve been working with her since the start (of my career),” Strom said.

“We know how dangerous she can be in the mid and going forward.”

This will be the seventh time the two sides in the West come head-to-head in the AFLW, with Fremantle currently holding a 6-0 win-loss record.

Strom said while there is expected to be some heat between the two sides, the win record doesn’t impact how the team prepares for the big clash.

“I think any RAC Derby is going to be a bit fiery, but hopefully we finish off with a win,” Strom said.

“We are going to treat it as every other game and try and get the four-points as normal.

“I think there’s always a bit of fire and spice. I think it’s that game maybe that you want to win that little bit more, but like I said, we try and prepare the same.”

The ruck encouraged Fremantle fans to get down to the match on Saturday afternoon, and touched on the message behind the RAC Derby.

“I think it’s going to be really fun for the crowd. Obviously, Eagles are doing so well and they’re going to have a huge crowd, and hopefully our purple fans come in waves,” Strom said.

“It’s the RAC Derby and they put out the important message about safety on our roads, which will be incredible.”

Miller will captain the side in the absence of Ange Stannett who continues to manage her coaching role from the bench.

Jae Flynn and Makaela Tuhakaraina join Hetherington as the three emergencies for the match.

Bouncedown is at 4.05pm WST, with the game to be broadcast live on Channel 7 and Fox Footy, as well as being streamed live on Kayo Sports.
