Fremantle’s starting line-up for Sunday afternoon’s clash with Hawthorn at Fremantle Oval will be the same side that were victorious against Geelong in their 18-point win on Tuesday evening.

This will be the side’s third game in nine days under this year’s condensed fixture, seeing teams play 11 games for the season instead of last year’s 10.

Amy Mulholland, Ariana Hetherington, Hayley Miller, Laura Pugh and Gabby Biedenweg-Webster have all been named in the forward line for this Sunday, with the side having had to adapt to a new style of play without co-vice-captain Áine Tighe.

After returning to the field for the first time in just under three years on Tuesday evening, Mikayla Morrison has been named on the interchange bench alongside Tunisha Kikoak, Phil Seth, Sarah Verrier and Megan Kauffman.

Young gun Tunisha Kikoak has impressed in the forward mix, having kicked two majors in the week 5 clash with St Kilda and the first Fremantle goal on Tuesday night against Geelong.

Senior Coach Lisa Webb spoke to media on Friday morning and said she was pleased with her side’s efforts to play their role.

“I think Hayley did exceptionally well on the weekend, but she was really well supported by Ebony (Antonio) and Ari (Ariana Hetherington), and TK (Tunisha Kikoak) is doing a fantastic job down there as well,” Webb said.

“We’re just really clear on what we’re asking for from those girls. We’re not asking for someone to replace Áine, we’re just asking for someone to play their role.

“That might look slightly different to what it was in pre-season, but they’ve adjusted so well, they’ve got a really great growth mindset and it’s something I’m really proud of.

“Their flexibility to change different roles and adapt, and continue to learn on the job (has been) really pleasing.”

Webb reflected on the Tuesday night victory against the Cats and said the side would need to prepare thoroughly for another tough matchup with Hawthorn on Sunday.

“To have that win on the weekend – (it was) really challenging, Geelong have been a really good team, played finals last year, but once we got going, I thought it was a strong performance,” Webb said.

“The girls are really professional in their approach every week and this week will be exactly the same.”

This will be the third time Hawthorn and Fremantle face each other, with both previous matches ending in a victory for Fremantle at home, including last year’s 13-point win.

Hayley Miller will captain the side in the absence of Ange Stannett who has been managing her coaching role from the bench.

Joanne Cregg, Tahleah Mulder and Makaela Tuhakaraina have been listed as the three emergencies for the match.

Bouncedown is at 2.05pm WST, with the game to be broadcast live on Channel 7 and Fox Footy, as well as being streamed live on Kayo Sports.
