Exciting first year players Stephen Hill and Greg Broughton have both agreed to contract extensions.
Hill, who was one of only seven Fremantle players to play all 22 home and away games in his debut season, has agreed to a one year extension to take him through to the end of the 2012 season.
The 19-year-old, who was Fremantle’s first pick (No. 3 overall) in the 2008 National Draft, won a NAB Rising Star nomination for his performance against West Coast in round six.
Broughton, a multiple premiership player with Subiaco who won the Lions’ club champion award in 2008, has agreed to terms for a two-year contract extension taking him through to the end of the 2011 season.
Fremantle’s 6th round pick (No. 74 overall) at the 2008 AFL Rookie Draft, Broughton was elevated to the senior list in March this year and made his debut against Adelaide in round three.
Earlier this week, the 22-year-old, who played 15 games in his debut AFL season, finished third in the AFL Players’ Association award for the Best First Year Player.
General manager of player management Brad Lloyd said the club was looking forward to the next phase in the careers of both players.
“They both impressed with the way they went about their football in their debut seasons,” he said.
“We see Stephen and Greg as being long-term players for the club,” he said.
