The inclusion of midfielder Aisling McCarthy headlines Fremantle’s starting line-up for the week 4 clash with Melbourne at Fremantle Oval on Saturday, after being a late withdrawal last week with bone bruising.

The Irish gun has been named in the starting forward line after two strong performances in the first few weeks of the season, with a notable 24 disposals, 14 tackles and two goals in week 1 against the Bombers.

McCarthy replaces Phil Seth who has been omitted and named as an emergency for the match.

After kicking the match-winning goal last week and putting on a show alongside the other midfielders, co-vice-captain Hayley Miller will be eying off a big matchup against Melbourne's midfielders

Senior Coach Lisa Webb spoke in her weekly media conference on Thursday morning, touching on how proud she was of Miller’s efforts.

“She was superb. She can play anywhere, to be honest. I thought her hunt around the contest was fantastic, and she laid some great tackles that led to turnovers,” Webb said.

“I think she had quad cramps, so for her to push through and kick that winning goal was really important.

“It’s the role she’s playing for her teammates, especially in a game where we didn’t have Aish Mac in – she was really impressive.”

Webb spoke about the challenge Melbourne bring, and how eager the side are to get two wins in a row under their belt.

“They’re highly competitive, they’ve played three really great teams and they’ve got great players in there, so we certainly wouldn’t want to underestimate them, but we’re looking forward to playing them,” Webb said.

“We’d love to get a couple (of wins) in a row and there’s a lot of things we’ve tried to put in place – the girls are so resilient, they’ve shown a lot of grit so far so we’re looking forward to this weekend.”

Laura Pugh will captain the side in the absence of Ange Stannett, who will manage her coaching role from the bench.

Makaela Tuhakaraina and Tahleah Mulder join Seth as the three emergencies for the clash.

Bouncedown is at 12.05pm WST, with the game to be broadcast live on Channel 7 and Fox Footy, as well as being streamed live on Kayo Sports.
