Star midfielder Caleb Serong and key defensive pillar Luke Ryan have been rewarded with All Australian honours after outstanding 2024 seasons.

Serong has now been named in the final All Australian team for consecutive years.

In 2023, Serong was named on the interchange of the final team but after a blistering 2024 season, which saw the young midfielder break the Club’s clearance (17) and disposals (46) records for a single game, he has been promoted to an on-field starting position in the midfield.

Serong’s phenomenal season saw him break his previous record of most disposals in a season, gathering a whopping 676 disposals at an average of 29.4 per game, edging out his previous best of 675 disposals set in 2023.

The 23-year-old also set the all-time clearance record for the Club in a single season with 175, accompanied by his 11 goals and 114 tackles, marking his career-best returns in a season.

The young star broke the AFL’s record for most consecutive matches with 20-plus disposals, previously held by Western Bulldog Jack Macrae, who had set the record with 70 consecutive games previously.

To top it all off, Serong won his third Glendinning-Allan Medal after his 32 disposals, 10 clearances, 525 meters gained and a goal in the Club’s 35-point win in RAC Derby 59, placing him just one behind all-time leader Paul Hasleby, who has four.

Ryan who is named on-field in defence, is receiving his second All Australian jacket after first making the All Australian team in 2020.

The defender caps off a brilliant year as one of Fremantle’s most pivotal members in the Club's defensive unit.

Ryan broke the Club’s record for most rebounds in a single season, amassing 170 in 2024, beating his previous record of 168. The defender now holds the top four rebound records in the Club’s history (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024).

The defender also took 198 marks in the 2024 season, the second-best in the Club’s history, just behind Matthew Pavlich’s record of 203 set back in 2007.

In the absence of captain Alex Pearce and fellow key defender Brennan Cox throughout large portions of the year, Ryan's leadership has shone through as he consistently led a young defensive unit, which saw Fremantle hold the fourth-best record for points against in the league.
