Fremantle AFLW High Performance Manager Corey Morris has given an injury update ahead of the Club’s round one meeting with Essendon at Windy Hill on Saturday 31 August.
Speaking on Tuesday morning, Morris was confident recruit Gabby Biedenweg-Webster and lethal right footer Sarah Verrier would be available for selection ahead of the Club’s round one clash.
“They’ll both be tests for this weekend,” Morris said.
“Sarah’s (Verrier) coming back from some lower leg soreness and Gabby (Biedenweg-Webster) is coming back from a calf niggle.”
Morris was also able to confirm the Club would be without Mikayla Morrison for the foreseeable future after the 22-year-old injured her knee in a training session last week.
The injury was sustained to the same knee that saw Morrison sidelined with an ACL in 2022.
“Unfortunately, last week Morro (Morrison) had a little setback with her left knee which was her first ACL side which required a little bit of surgery,” Morris said.
“We’ll work through what the return to play timeline looks like over this week.”
In positive news, Serena Gibbs (knee) and Holly Ifould (back) are making steady progress on their returns from injury, with both set to be available for selection within a month.
“She’s (Ifould) good, she’s been back running for a couple of weeks, and we will look to progress her football volumes over the next few weeks,” Morris said.
“Serena (Gibbs) also been back running the last couple of weeks, and we’ll look to progress her football loads over the next couple of weeks as well.”
Meanwhile, Club captain Ange Stannett is progressing through the stages of her ACL rehabilitation, with Morris confident the 27-year-old is tracking well.
“Ange (Stannett) has been really good. She’s just been working on her range of motion and her strength work has been progressing really well,” Morris said.
