Fremantle Executive General Manager of Football Joe Brierty has confirmed that key forward Josh Treacy will be unavailable for the Club’s round 24 clash with Port Adelaide on Sunday.

Speaking to Mark Duffield on SEN WA on Tuesday morning, Brierty said Treacy has been battling a low-grade Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) injury since the round 21 defeat to the Bombers.

“It’s been a frustrating one with JT (Treacy), where he’s had a low-grade PCL injury,” Brierty said.

“We’re needing that to stabilise week-to-week and we’ve been getting that assessed with a specialist.

“He’s still had some effusions which obviously, from a healing point of view, it’s been around the knee and he won’t be available for this weekend either.

“Obviously the risk versus reward with these things and the PCL is one of the things you don’t take risks with.

“At this point in time he’s still progressing really well and it’s healing, but we would look for him to be available again for the first final if we were to get through.

Treacy has had a breakout season in 2024, booting 45 goals from his 20 appearances.

Sunday’s vital clash with Port Adelaide could be the difference between the Club making the top eight and missing finals.

The Club’s official injury update will be released later today at fremantlefc.com.au.
