Midfield superstar Caleb Serong (32 disposals, 10 clearances and a goal) has taken home his third Glendinning-Allan medal to move him just one behind record holder Paul Hasleby (four).

Senior coach Justin Longmuir had nothing but praise for the 23-year-old during his post-match RAC Derby 59 win.

“He's a star,” Longmuir said.

“He prepares consistently every week, he continues to work on his game week in, week out.

“He’s becoming a better player week in, week out, and he's had a phenomenal season.”

Serong and great mate Andrew Brayshaw took control of the contest in the second half, combining for 68 disposals as they ran over a valiant Eagles side.

The duo helped Freo win the clearance count 45-37 propelling Fremantle inside 50 - 53 times - to post the Clubs sixth 100 plus score for the season.

“I thought him and Andy, when they were pretty dominant, those two boys just kept at it, kept at it, kept at it,” Longmuir said.

“They were two outstanding performances from our vice-captains today.

“They've been outstanding all year and for a few years with their leadership and their performances.

"They've had a little bit more responsibility in terms of tossing the coin and talking to the team before the game and that type of thing, which they've embraced and approached really well.”

Down by 13 points at half time, Longmuir conceded the second half was a ‘mature performance’

“I said to the players after the game, I was really proud of our maturity, because we were able to work our way through that and slowly get the game on our terms,” Longmuir said.

“(That) started by getting the game played in the right area in our front half, whereas probably large parts of the first half in particular, (it) was played at their end and they were forcing us into mistakes and scoring from that.

“We were slowly able to get the game played on our terms in the right end and we started capitalising on the scoreboard.

“I was really proud of the maturity we showed to be able to work through that because if you go back to the first RAC Derby, we weren't able to work through that.

“I was proud of the way the players responded.”

With the 35-point win, Fremantle regains the RAC Derby trophy, holding seven of the last eight wins over the cross town rivals.
