Ryan Nyhuis has been referred directly to the tribunal for an incident involving Port Adelaide’s Robbie Gray in the third quarter of Sunday’s game at Optus Stadium.
Match Review Officer Michael Christian classified Nyhuis’ tackle on Gray as careless conduct, severe impact and high contact.
According to the AFL’s tribunal guidelines, all intentional or careless incidents classified as ‘severe impact’ are referred directly to the tribunal and carry a minimum sanction of three matches.
Nyhuis’ tribunal hearing is set to be held in Perth via video link to Melbourne on Tuesday evening.
In other incidents assessed, defender Nathan Wilson has been cited for two separate incidents of misconduct against Travis Boak in the melee that followed the Nyhuis incident.
Both incidents come with a $1500 fine downgraded to $1000 per incident, meaning Wilson can accept a $2000 fine with an early plea.
