Walyalup midfielder Jaeger O’Meara has expressed the ‘weird’ feeling following the Friday night draw with Collingwood at Optus Stadium.
“We will take the two points over no points for sure but it’s a bit of a weird feeling,” O’Meara said.
“We probably lost control of the game for 30 or 40 minutes there in the third quarter and maybe got away with one a little bit."
Walyalup trailed by a game high 25 points entering the final stages of the fourth term, with the Club going on a late burst, kicking the final four goals of the game to snatch a draw from the jaws of defeat.
Walyalup made the most of the packed-out home crowd, utilising ‘Wharfie Time’ to mount pressure and momentum on the reigning premiers to take six of the final seven inside 50’s, kicking three goals in that time.
Club Captain Alex Pearce drifted forward late in a rare occurrence, taking a pivotal mark inside forward 50 and converting to reduce the margin to 1.
“We went into a different mindset in the last quarter because we were behind, so we just needed to try and score,” O’Meara said.
"It would been nice to steal the four points, but we will take the two.”
O’Meara put up his second-highest disposal (19) outing for the year and highest tackle count (five), admitting he has been building into the season.
“It’s been a real slow burn for me personally,” O’Meara said.
“I’m playing a different role on the wing and I’m getting used to that, but I feel like I’m building each week and getting more confident.”

Walyalup will now face Melbourne in Alice Springs next Sunday following a nine-day break.
“We’ve got a weekend off this weekend so the boys will recover up and we will be able to train a little bit more this week and get up to Alice Springs on Friday,” O’Meara said.
“That’s our last game before the bye so hopefully we can get the four points up there.”
