Sean Darcy will look to work in tandem with Luke Jackson to get on top of Western Bulldogs ruck Tim English in this Saturday night's Len Hall Game as Fremantle look to bounce back.

Darcy believes that he and Jackson can pair their strengths to compete with English's ability on the ground and in the air.

“Tim (English) is a very good player, and he had a really good season last year and was playing really well last week from what I saw,” Darcy said at Fremantle’s Monday afternoon press conference. 

“His (English) ability to cover the ground is one of the better ones, and his ability to take contested marks above the packs where some others aren’t able to reach.

“You’ve got to be really quick with your reactions, and on the ground he’s really fast."

When asked on how the Club would juggle the ruck share between Fremantle’s two premium big men, Darcy said the approach would depend on who better suited the matchup.

“We have a lot of data and analysis on opposition ruckman, so we will find out who suits who better,” Darcy said. 

“I think that’s the exciting bit, that we (Jackson and Darcy) are very different in the type of player that we are. Whichever opposition we come up against we will determine who suits the matchup better.

“Drag them forward and back… paying with width, things like that.

“With me and Luke going in we are trying to make the opposition (ruck) more tired. If he has to wrestle me for a little bit and then chase Luke around, then that’s the idea.”

Darcy did admit that re-establishing his connection with Jackson and the midfield group may take some time, given his extended period of time on the sideline.

The 203cm ruckman's last senior game for the Club before the weekend’s RAC Derby was round 18 of 2023.

“I think it will take a little bit of time (chemistry),” Darcy said.

“We were getting in the way of each other a little bit which halfway through last year we weren’t doing.

“I think once we get up and going we will be great."

Fremantle and the Western Bulldogs are both 3-3 heading in to the round seven Len Hall Game, with a spot in the top eight on the line.
