Fremantle Captain Alex Pearce has said the Club is relishing at the opportunity to face Port Adelaide in front of a big crowd at Adelaide Oval on Saturday.
Pearce stood firm that the Club was moving on from the controversial ending in their narrow loss to Carlton during Gather Round, and instead was focused on leaving Adelaide with four points.
“After that game (Carlton) and the way we played for the majority of the four quarters, we played a brand of footy that we are really proud of and have delivered the first month of the season," Pearce said.
“That gives us great confidence and of course we want to bounce back and leave Adelaide with four points.
"They (Port) are a really good side, there aren’t too many easy games in the AFL so it will be a great challenge.”
Fremantle and Port Adelaide both currently sit 3-1 after four games in 2024, with the winner in the upcoming clash on Saturday night having the opportunity to move into the top four by the end of round five.
Pearce said the team was looking forward to facing off against another quality side.
“The Port crowd are pretty loud and it will be a good atmosphere and good fun. It’s a challenge we’re looking forward to,” Pearce said.
“It’s something we will relish and look forward to.”
The Fremantle Captain added that he was looking forward to the potential return of Sean Darcy either this week or next.
"I think he (Sean Darcy) is going to be very close. He’s done a lot of work over the past month," Pearce said.
“I think the flexibility for those guys (Darcy and Luke Jackson) to play forward is great and for Luke to play in the midfield.
"I’m sure if they both play we will see many different iterations of them and I’m looking forward to having them both play together."
