Fremantle’s 35-point victory over the Adelaide Crows in the Good Friday clash at Optus Stadium featured numerous one-percent efforts and ‘desperation acts’, something senior coach Justin Longmuir credits the inbuilt Club culture for.
Fremantle out-tackled Adelaide 63-43 during the round 3 win, with multiple players applying pressure acts as they hunted to win back the ball.
“The desperation comes back to trademark and culture in some respect,” Longmuir said during his post-match press conference.
“The players have done a really good job of driving the connection and the standards across the summer.
“We want to build a culture and a game style of play where we never give up and that’s all part of it.
“I think all the good teams do those sorts of things, so it’s pleasing to see (for us).”
Despite the perfect start to the season, Longmuir said the team could again elevate their game in the following weeks.
“We need to keep valuing the right things as a footy Club and as a team,” Longmuir said.
“We still have plenty to build on and plenty of improvements left in us, so players should see this as a really great opportunity.
"I’ve been really impressed with the way all our staff have gone about executing their roles.
“Our coaches have done a mountain of work trying to prepare our players over the last few six-day breaks, and the players have been really professional in the way they’ve gone about their preparation and getting up for each game.”
The Club will now have an eight-day break before facing Carlton in a Gather Round clash in which both teams are 3-0.
