Fremantle defeated North Melbourne by 26 points in their round two clash at Marvel Stadium on Saturday.

Luke Jackson was a standout performer and was influential with his 24 disposals, 21 hit-outs, two goals and 10 score involvements as he helped drive Fremantle to the Club’s second win of the season.

Midfielder Hayden Young hailed Jackson’s performance as one of the best on ground.

“He was massive (Jackson),” Young said post-match.

“He had a pretty good ruck battle with (Tristan) Xerri today, but at ground level I feel like he gave us a point of difference.

“He acts as an additional midfielder.

“His follow-up work today was outstanding, and he was able to go forward and hit the scoreboard which is pretty damaging for us.”

Midway through the second quarter, Fremantle were down by 32 points, but a stretch of nine consecutive goals, including two from Jackson saw the team wrestle momentum back in the Club’s favour.

“We came in at halftime knowing that we were still in the game,” Young said.

“JL was really clear to point out what we weren’t doing well and the difference in the second half was really obvious.

ALL THE HIGHLIGHTS

“Sometimes footy is a game of momentum, when you have it you really have to cash in and I felt like we were really able to do that.

“Last year we might not of been able to come back and win that one but we showed a lot of growth in our mindset to be able to fight it out and get things back on our terms.”

Fremantle will face the Adelaide Crows at Optus Stadium in a Good Friday clash next week as the Club looks to start the season 3-0.

“We will spend tonight and tomorrow celebrating this win, but when we get back to the club on Monday, we turn our attention to the Crows,” Young said.

“We are in a good position, 2-0 is a great start to the year and we just need to continue with this momentum.”
