Lachie Neale, Ed Langdon and David Mundy have been recognised as Fremantle’s nominees for the 37th AFL Players’ Association MVP Award, announced on Thursday 30 August in Melbourne.
Langdon is also a nominee for the ‘Most Courageous Award’ while Adam Cerra has been nominated as the ‘Best First Year’ player.
Cerra’s impressive debut season was also acknowledged by being recognised with the round 16 NAB AFL Rising Star nomination.
Taken with Fremantle’s second selection, fifth overall, in the 2017 NAB AFL Draft, Cerra’s ability to work well in confined spaces and get outside the contest earnt him a call up to the senior side in round 2 and has held his spot in the team since.
Nat Fyfe has also received a nomination for the ‘Best Captain Award’ along with the 17 other captains in the competition.
The nomination for the MVP Award is a two-stage process. The first involves players nominating three teammates for the award, before the three nominees from every club are presented to all players to decide the winner.
Players cannot vote for their own teammates in stage two of the process.
A similar process is followed for best first year player and most courageous awards, however just one player is nominated from each club.
