Fremantle is set to make history during Sir Doug Nicholls round, with eight indigenous players named in the side that will face Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.
The squad features two changes from the side which defeated Carlton by 35 points in round nine, with Jon Griffin and Darcy Tucker coming in for the injured Aaron Sandilands and Ed Langdon.
Griffin featured strongly for Peel last Saturday against Perth at Lathlain Park.
The versatile ruck/forward had 36 hit outs and kicked two goals in the Thunder’s 90 point win.
Tucker was held over as an emergency during Fremantle’s win over Carlton last week and has made five AFL appearances this season, averaging 15 disposals.
Barring any late injuries, Freo will break the record of seven indigenous players in one side held jointly by Fremantle and Port Adelaide.
Griffin joins Michael Johnson, Michael Walters, Stephen Hill, Bradley Hill, Joel Hamling, Danyle Pearce and Brady Grey as Fremantle’s indigenous players named in the 22.
Fremantle first fielded a team of seven indigenous players on 11 May 2003 in the round seven clash with the Western Bulldogs.
The side featured Des Headland, Jeff Farmer, Antoni Grover, Troy Cook, Roger Hayden, Steven Koops and Dion Woods, with the group playing together a further five times that season.
Port Adelaide equalled the record while playing against Fremantle in round 23 of the 2015 season.
Fremantle equalled the record again in rounds one and two of the 2017 season against Geelong and Port Adelaide.
Meanwhile, Adelaide has made two changes to the side that defeated Brisbane by 80 points in round nine.
Forward Josh Jenkins and wingman David Mackay have been recalled, replacing the injured Curtly Hampton (ankle) and Jordan Gallucci, who has been omitted.
