Fremantle captain Alex Pearce has been awarded 10 coaches votes for his outstanding defensive performance in Fremantle’s seven-point win against Geelong.

Both Justin Longmuir and Chris Scott were in agreeance that Pearce was the best player on ground, with 15 intercept possessions, eight marks and six rebound 50s.

The key back was one of four Fremantle players to earn votes on the day, joined by ruckman Luke Jackson (seven votes) and midfielders Andrew Brayshaw (four votes) and Caleb Serong (two votes).

Jackson was vital in the ruck in Sean Darcy’s absence, acting as a virtual fourth midfielder at the centre bounce.

He led all players with eight clearances, as well as having 11 contested possessions, seven ground ball gets and five tackles.
