Matthew Pavlich's Top 10 - Number 3
Ahead of his 300th game, fremantlefc.com.au counts down our legendary captain's greatest moments
In club stalwart Shane Parker’s 200th game, Matthew Pavlich kicked his biggest ever goals tally.
The Freo superstar bagged nine majors toleave a shell-shocked Carlton wondering what had just hit them.
The match was played at the MCG – a venue Pavlich has made a habit of playing big games at throughout his career.
‘Pav’ had 19 disposals and nine marks to go along with his nine goals, and he took home the three Brownlow Medal votes as well.
It was a masterful performance from one of the league’s best forwards. ‘Pav’s’ haul came in the middle of a stunning run of form.
In the two weeks before the match against the Blues, he had kicked eight and four goals. The five matches after saw him kick bags of three, five, four, three and four majors.
Not surprisingly, Pavlich won the Doig Medal and was named an All Australian in 2005. He’d repeat that feat in the ensuing three seasons.
