One of the many great activations going ahead at this weekend’s Sir Doug Nicholls Round clash with Geelong at Optus Stadium is ‘Wandering Walyalup’, a physical and digital activation designed to help educate fans on Noongar language.
Wandering Walyalup will consist of six physical checkpoints throughout the Level 1 concourse at Optus Stadium, each featuring a different Indigenous symbol used on either our 2023 Indigenous jumper or Walyalup logo.
Fans are encouraged to scan the QR code alongside the Indigenous symbol to learn more about what the image represents, and how to pronounce the name in Noongar language.
The six checkpoints can be found at Lobbies 101, 107 and 129, as well as seating sections 117, 132 and 138.
Everyone who scans all six codes will go into the running to win a team signed 2023 Indigenous Jumper!
The signage displayed at each checkpoint has been produced by Blak Line Industries - a majority owned and operated Aboriginal business composed of six different Traditional Owner families with beneficiaries belonging to the Palyku, Nyiyaparli, Banjima, Kariyarra, Nyamal and Yued peoples.
Blak Line co-founder Raquel Todd also sits as a member of our RAP External Advisory Group.
This gameday activation is sponsored by our Indigenous Program Partner, Woodside Energy.
