Nat Fyfe's return to football could be as soon as this weekend as the midfielder turned forward builds from his plantar fascia injury.
How Fyfe fares and recovers from training on Wednesday will determine whether he is made available for either Saturday’s clash with Hawthorn, used as a sub, or plays for Peel against Swan Districts at Rushton Park.
Senior Coach Justin Longmuir gave an update on Fyfe, who has made just one appearance this season in round one.
“He hasn’t ticked all the boxes to say he’s available yet,” Senior Coach Justin Longmuir told 7NEWS.
“He (needs) to get through main training, he has to get the tick of approval from the medical staff.
“All options are still open. We’ll decide that after training and we’ll wait to see whether he gets through, but all options are still on the table.”
Longmuir said he was delighted to see Fremantle’s support of the Starlight Children’s Foundation, with the Club raising funds for what will be the 21st Starlight Purple Haze Game, proudly presented by South32.
“I’ve been really proud of the way the players and the Club have embraced this,” Longmuir said.
“We’ve raised more than $2 million and it’s something our players and fans get right behind.”
Longmuir also praised 22-year-old defender Hayden Young, who was one of Fremantle’s best against Brisbane with 33 disposals and 685 metres gained.
“He was clearly one of our better players and a young player that we have high hopes for,” Longmuir said.
“The more we can get him into the game the better, I thought he positioned himself really well, defended really well and that created a lot of offence for him on the weekend.
“He had a good game.”
