Fremantle will celebrate the AFL milestones of James Aish and Jaeger O’Meara this Saturday against Brisbane when the pair play their 150th career games.

Aish played 32 games for Brisbane before moving to Collingwood where he featured in 50 games, with the midfielder/defender having since played 67 games at Fremantle.

Since his arrival at Freo, Aish has enjoyed career best averages in disposals, marks, clearances, inside 50s and contested possessions per game.

O’Meara started his AFL career with 44 games at the Gold Coast before narrowly missing out on 100 games at Hawthorn, playing 99 games in the brown and gold.

The midfielder has played every game so far this season at Fremantle and has averaged 19 disposals, four tackles and five clearances per game.

While both Aish and O’Meara reflected on the achievement in a low-key manner, the pair said they felt honoured to each be notching game 150 this weekend.

“It will be something I reflect on a bit deeper later,” Aish said.

“More so for me, if it has brought enjoyment to people close to me and given family and friends something to follow, then that has been what I have enjoyed most about my career.

“I’m also pretty fortunate now that the majority of my games have been at Freo which is cool.

“I’m loving being here and I’m looking forward to the weekend.

“It’s cool it’s probably something I will think about post career, but I haven’t given it too much thought,” O’Meara said.

“We haven’t had the start to the season we would have liked so we are looking forward to another challenge in Brisbane at the Gabba.

“I’m more looking forward to the match rather than the milestone.”

Asked about an AFL career that has eluded a premiership during his time at the Suns and the Hawks, O’Meara said that he was eager to help drive Fremantle towards success throughout his time in purple.

“I’ve still got another three and a half years left on this contract, so hopefully there are some blue skies ahead and some success,” O’Meara said.

“It’s been a funny career, it’s been up and down and I have had my fair share of injuries but I have enjoyed every minute of it and I am looking forward to playing more footy here at Fremantle.”
