Worthy winner in Freo raffle
You would be hard pressed to find a more worthy winner of a Hyundai i20 in the Community Goals Raffle
Claire Vickers, who is originally from Scotland, has lived in Australia for the last three-and-half-years and was the lucky second prize winner of a 2014 Hyundai i20 thanks to DVG Hyundai.
Already a Hyundai owner, Vickers said she wasn’t in need of two of them and would sell one to fund a trip to Scotland to see her parents and donate the rest to charity.
“I am going to take my parents on a cruise around the UK and then give some money to The Heart Association and The Stroke Association,” Vickers said.
“My mum was diagnosed with a heart condition last year and then three weeks later had a stroke, she is now completely paralysed.”
Until recently Vickers was living in Kalgoorlie working as a geologist, where she purchased the winning ticket.
Vickers said she liked to support a good cause.
“I always like to support charities, and the money from this raffle was going to helping support childhood obesity and there is a bit of that in my family at home,” Vickers said.
“I have a really good life so I think we may as well give back to people who need it.”
Kalgoorlie also had another winner with James Crawford striking gold as the first prize winner.
Crawford won $25,000 cash.
