Griffin Logue and Connor Blakely have put their injury-interrupted 2018 seasons behind them, according to teammate Luke Ryan.
Ryan said the pair have been setting a high standard at pre-season training, with Fremantle’s first to fourth-year players returning to the club on Monday.
Logue missed the entirety of the 2018 season with a foot injury while Blakely missed the second half with a knee injury.
Both ran well in Wednesday’s time trial, with Logue placing fourth and Blakely sixth.
“Griffin was very unlucky this year with his foot but he’s come back in terrific nick,” Ryan told 6PR.
“He’s always been really fit and strong and I think he’s gone up a notch again.
“He just wants to play footy again, which I think every bloke would who’s been injured for a whole year. He’s really excited.”
Ryan expects Blakely to play an important role for Fremantle in 2019, either stepping into the midfield as a potential replacement for Lachie Neale or continuing his work as a part of the backline.
“Connor’s really fit even after his big holiday,” Ryan said.
“He’s such a professional and has come back in really good nick and he ran really well (in the time trial).
“To get him back and fit and at 100 per cent will help us a lot, whether that’s in the midfield or a half back.”
