Dockers rest sore Pavlich for Roos

The West Australian

Fremantle captain Matthew Pavlich will miss his team’s critical round-21 match against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium on Sunday after being ruled out with Achilles soreness.

Slight favourites at the start of the week, Fremantle eased considerably to $2.32 outsiders as the Kangaroos firmed into $1.62 as they chase their seventh successive victory.

Pavlich battled Achilles issues for much of the 2012 and 2013 seasons and has had corrective surgery on both legs. The Dockers remain hopeful he will be available for their home match against Melbourne on Sunday week.

“We will monitor the situation over the course of the week. We will then be in better position to make a decision about Matthew’s availability,” Dockers football manager Chris Bond said.

Todd Goldstein v Aaron Sandilands: SuperCoach 2015

HeraldSun

THINKING about putting the “C” on Todd Goldstein this weekend? Think again.

The Kangaroos ruckman is the No.1 scorer this SuperCoach season, averages 157 in his past five weeks, and has been a trustworthy captaincy choice all year.

However, the giant shadow of Fremantle big man Aaron Sandilands looms large in Round 21 - preliminary final week in the SuperCoach universe.

In the past 10 weeks, Sandilands has averaged 121. He’s main opponent has averaged just 81.

It gets worse. Goldstein scored just 44 last time he faced the Dockers’ man mountain in Round 8, he’s lowest score of the season but a fair margin.
