The team might be in Melbourne but there’ll still be plenty of skills on display at Fremantle Oval on Friday 17 July.
It’s time for the 2014 Fremantle Dockers Community Goals Freo Kwik Kick, Freo Fast Ball and Freo Long Bomb semi-finals.
Hundreds of primary school children from around WA will converge to contest the three competitions.
The events were conducted in primary schools across the entire State throughoutterm two, culminating in Friday's semi-finals. They involve the students taking part in the following:
Freo Long Bomb
Students participate in kicking the football as far as they can.
Freo Kwik Kick
Students participate, in pairs, kicking to each other as many times as they can in three minutes.
Freo Fast Ball
Students participate in a team handballing relay.
The skills-based activities all come under the Fremantle Dockers’ Community Goals' banner, with each program encouraging enjoyable competition while at the same time promoting school spirit and participation in sport.
The action gets underway on Friday at 1pm. Congratulations to all our participants who’ll showcase their talents in the semi-finals.
The Grand Finals will take place at Patersons Stadium as the curtain raiser to Fremantle's round 23 clash with Port Adelaide. Please note the date and time of this fixture will not be released by the AFL until early August.
For those taking part in Friday’s semi-finals, pleasewear your school polo top/t-shirt. You may wear footy shorts, socks and boots (sports shoes are also ok). Footballs will be supplied on the day.
Please bring a change of clothes, as the event will continue under most conditions. And remember to check www.fremantlefc.com.au on the morning of the competition to ensure weather has not forced the cancellation of the competition. In the event of a cancellation, notice will be posted on the Fremantle Dockers website by 10am Friday 18 July.
All results from Friday’s semi-finals will be posted on the club’s website early next week.
