Travis Colyer is expected to miss at least six weeks of football after undergoing surgery on his knee, according to Executive General Manager of Football Peter Bell.

Outside of the Colyer injury, Bell said Fremantle was almost at full availability in the first Perth Radiological Clinic Injury Update of the season.

Michael Walters (achilles) is the only question mark heading into round one against St Kilda, with Michael Frederick and Luke Ryan set for the all clear if they get through Thursday’s main training.

Bell said Colyer’s return date would become clear as he progresses through his reconditioning.

“Trav’s had a minor knee irritation and he went off for some arthroscopic surgery earlier this week,” Bell said.

“He’s recovering well, the surgeon thinks it will be a timeframe of around six weeks before he can return to play.

“Everyone recovers at their own rate, so we’ll work through that with Trav and make sure he’s ready when he does come back.”

Walters is set to play minutes this weekend, either for Fremantle or for Peel in a pre-season game against Subiaco on Saturday at Rushton Park.

“We’ll make the decision later in the week, we’ve still got main training to conclude on Thursday,” Bell said about Walters.

Frederick (quad) and Ryan (back) are both available for selection after missing Fremantle’s pre-season game against Port Adelaide.

“Michael (Frederick) has done a lot of work and, pending him getting through main training on Thursday, which we think he will, he’ll be available for selection,” Bell said.

“Luke’s in a very similar boat, he should be good to go.”

Mature aged draftee Corey Wagner is set to run out for Peel as he builds from a hamstring injury.

“He’s up for some minutes this weekend so he’ll be really excited about turning out for Peel,” Bell said.

Bell was pleased to see Fremantle start the season with good player availability.

“It’s early in the week, but everyone bar Trav will be playing some minutes on the weekend, which is great,” Bell said.
