Following the passing of WA football great Jack Sheedy, the Fremantle Football Club conveys its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the Club’s former Vice-Patron.
“Long regarded as one of the greatest players produced in WA, Jack Sheedy was also the first player from WA to pass the 300-game mark at the elite level,” President Dale Alcock said.
“On behalf of the players, staff and board of the Fremantle Football Club we send our condolences to the family of a genuine legend of our great game.”
As a mark of respect, Fremantle players on Friday’s game against Adelaide wore black arm bands for the inaugural member of Fremantle’s Hall of Legends.
Sheedy was 96.
A former captain and coach of East Fremantle and East Perth, Sheedy won two flags with the Sharks and two with the Royals.
He played 22 State games for WA and coached WA 10 times.
His list of achievements include:
• Australian Football Hall of Fame
• WA Football Hall of Fame (Inductee 2004, Legend 2005)
• Fremantle Football Club Hall of Legends
• Life Member of both East Fremantle and East Perth
• East Fremantle Team of the Century
