The Fremantle Football Club will be hosting its fifth International Women’s Day Luncheon, one of the highlights of the Club’s events calendar, on Friday 3 March at the Grand Ballroom at Crown Perth.

Every year the luncheon inspires both the women and men in attendance with a selection of influential guest speakers and entertainment, with this year’s theme being ‘supporting women’. Guests will also be treated to a three-course meal and premium beverages.

Artwork around the theme for the event has been beautifully illustrated by Indigenous artist Tamara Hayden, which highlights the importance of family in traditional Aboriginal culture and the roles women play within the community.

In the illustration the Grandmother is providing guidance, wisdom and insight to her family. She is respected and heard in times of need and plays a key role in her community. She is the keeper of knowledge, and will help to ensure cultural continuity. She is a living connection to the past.

“Our Grandmothers serve as teachers, healers, advisors and counsellors. They are the backbone of our family.”
