Fremantle defender Zac Dawson has been charged with a level one striking offence for a first quarter hit on Geelong’s Matthew Stokes, but is free to play if he accepts an early plea.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Cats, the incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points).

This was a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a level one offence, drawing 80 demerit points and a reprimand.

Dawson has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduced the sanction by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 60 points towards his future record.

Geelong’s Joel Corey was charged with tripping Danyle Pearce during the second quarter of Saturday night’s game.

He can also accept a reprimand and 60 points towards his future record with an early plea.
