Andrew Brayshaw and Luke Jackson train at the Club's oval during their off-season

Senior Coach Justin Longmuir is looking forward to seeing how Sean Darcy and new recruit Luke Jackson work as a ruck-forward duo in 2023.

The highly rated Jackson arrived at Fremantle during the 2022 Trade Period, where Freo traded two first round picks for the 2019 no.3 pick and 2021 Rising Star winner.

Jackson performed at his best in the ruck in his three seasons for Melbourne but has the potential to play anywhere on the ground.

Longmuir said Fremantle’s immediate need is to use Jackson in a similar role following the departures of rucks Rory Lobb and Lloyd Meek in the trade period.

“We'll work through his role with him over the preseason, but clearly we’re a little bit shorter on the rucks now,” Longmuir told 6PR.

“I would imagine he will play a pretty similar role to what he's used to and we look to build that relationship between him and Sean and make sure that we give them plenty of flexibility with how they can swap and when they can swap.

“I’m really looking forward to them becoming a really strong tandem ruck-forward duo for us.”

Jackson was one of a number of players at the Club on Monday morning taking part in a voluntary training session as the group keeps in touch over the off-season.

The first to four year players are officially due to return for pre-season on Monday 28 November.
