WITH captain Matthew Pavlich sidelined for at least the next two weeks, Fremantle is yet to decide who will lead the side against Carlton on Sunday.

Aaron Sandilands, Luke McPharlin, Antoni Grover and Des Headland make up Fremantle's leadership group, but coach Mark Harvey threw the captaincy to other players during the pre-season.

David Mundy, who will play his 100th game on Sunday, Michael Johnson, Paul Hasleby and Roger Hayden all led Fremantle during the NAB Cup and Challenge competitions.

A decision on the captaincy is expected to be made on Saturday.

Experienced utility Dean Solomon will join Pavlich on the sidelines after a club-imposed ban for unprofessional behaviour.

Tall options Daniel Gilmore, Kepler Bradley, Adam Campbell and Ryan Murphy have all come into the extended 25-man squad, while midfielder Clayton Hinkley has been named on a wing.

"Playing at Subiaco we need more run in the side [and] we probably need to look at our forward line and see how that [can] be working a little bit better," Harvey said from Subiaco Oval on Thursday.

"There's a lot to take into consideration from last week's game against Collingwood.

"We're probably down to 26 to 27 players available for selection, so that's what we've got to work with and it provides everyone with an opportunity who's fit.

"And hopefully the team can really rally on the back of falling out of a game late last week."

Gilmore has averaged 34 possessions in his last three WAFL matches and Harvey said he had worked hard for a recall.

"I think that sometimes that can be an indicator of the young guys holding their spots. I've been pleased with their output," he said.

"He's been OK the last couple of weeks [and] you want those performances put up before we consider selection, so hence he's in our 25."

Bradley was development coach Steve Malaxos' star performer in the WAFL in round 14 with 27 possessions playing on the ball, while Hinkley was effective as a tagger in his last WAFL run a fortnight ago.
