Clancee Pearce is a quiet achiever but the spotlight is on the utility after an outstanding start to 2015.
Pearce has been among Fremantle’s most consistent performers this year averaging 20.7 touches per game.
He equaled his personal best of 31 touches against Melbourne in Round 5 and also clunked 11 marks against West Coast in Round 3.
But the humble 24-year-old admitted he preferred to let others take the spotlight.
“I’ll like to be out of the spotlight,” he said.
“All the other superstars can take the spotlight.
“I’m happy just doing what I’m doing.”
Pearce was sidelined with injuries during 2013 and 2014 but a tough pre-season has his body in superb condition.
“It’s been a good year, I trained pretty hard over the off season,” he said.
Garrick Ibbotson praised Pearce for his dedication to training during the pre-season and getting his body primed for Round 1.
“Clancee came back in the pre-season super fit,” he said.
“He is seeing some good reward for effort that no one really knew he was giving.”
