Caleb Serong is an equal leader for the Gary Ayres Award for the best finals player after earning the maximum 10 votes from Saturday’s elimination final against the Western Bulldogs.
Serong is joined by Brisbane’s Lachie Neale and Melbourne’s Steven May in the lead for the award after they also earned the maximum votes from their respective finals.
The 21-year-old led Fremantle with 33 disposals and all players on the ground with 10 clearances as he lifted to give Fremantle the momentum after a slow start, trailing by 41 points early in the second term.
He also kicked a goal and laid six tackles.
Michael Walters’ three goal performance earned him seven votes as he continues to be a big finals performer for Fremantle.
He now had 28 goals from his 13 finals appearances.
Defensive duo Luke Ryan and Brennan Cox polled two votes each as Freo’s remaining vote getters.
Ryan had 31 disposals, seven marks and nine rebound 50s while Cox had 28 disposals and eight marks.
