Fremantle has made two changes for the AFL Multicultural Round clash with Collingwood at the MCG on Saturday.
As expected, Hayden Ballantyne was named after serving his one-game suspension, while hard running defender Dylan Roberton gets another chance to impress.
Exciting first-year player Hayden Crozier will miss because of illness, while Jesse Crichton was omitted.
Stephen Hill (ankle) and Zac Dawson (knee) did not come up and will miss again.
Michael Walters, Lee Spurr and Tom Sheridan were named as emergencies.
General manager of football Chris Bond said Ballantyne’s inclusion was important, but that Fremantle needed a team effort to match it with the Magpies.
“We have to be at our best with everybody to beat Collingwood,” he said.
“They are the in-form team of the competition and they have stars on every line.
“From our point of view, everyone is going to be up. Hayden is obviously a quality player who will help with what we are trying to do, but at the end of the day, everybody is involved.”
Bond said Roberton had done what was asked of him at WAFL level to earn his recall to the side.
“Dylan played three games for us and then went out of the team after the Hawthorn game,” he said.
“He went back to East Perth, and we think he has had some really solid form and gets his chance.
“We think he can play in a number of positions and that gives us a real chance on the weekend.”
The football GM added that Hill and Dawson had done all they could to play, and hopefully weren’t far away from resuming.
“They are really a week-by-week proposition at the moment,” Bond said.
“We’ll give them the best chance to train next week.”
With rain forecast for Saturday, Fremantle can take heart in its performance against Richmond at the MCG in round 11, a match played in wet conditions.
“Our guys are a team that can adapt to the wet,” Bond said.
“However, we are playing a different opposition.
“Collingwood are an excellent team with a proven track record and it’s obviously going to be an enormous task, but a great task, for our young group.”
