While it’s not the same as making the top four on the AFL ladder, Fremantle have locked in a different top four at the end of the home and away season
On the back of a round 22 attendance of 53,818 in the RAC Derby, Fremantle achieved the fourth-best average attendance in the league of 40,460 per game.
Carlton ranked first with an average attendance of 49,484 ahead of Collingwood and Richmond.
The high finish is despite Fremantle having restricted attendances early in the season, including only 25,284 fans attending Freo’s round two clash with St Kilda when capacity was capped at 50 per cent.
Fremantle also have significantly less opportunity to leverage away fan attendancecompared to the 10 Victorian clubs.
It’s another sign of how far the Club has come after ranking last in the AFL for attendance in 2001 and second last between 1998 and 2000.
The high attendance figures also come off the back of Fremantle’s 2022 membership record, which currently stands at 56,051.
