Five key players of Fremantle’s future are in line to create Club history if all are selected in the AFL Players 22under22 final team for 2022.
Andy Brayshaw, Caleb Serong, Hayden Young, Michael Frederick and Jordan Clark have each been duly recognised with selection in the initial squad of 40 released on Wednesday.
Their selection in the final 22 is now in the hands of the fans, with voting now open.
All five players are averaging career-best numbers for disposals in 2022, while the quintet is also producing career-best figures across multiple statistical categories.
Consistency in form and selection have also been a key feature of their seasons, with Brayshaw and Clark playing 20 games, while Young, Serong and Frederick have each played 18 games this season.
If all five are selected in the 22under22 it will mark the highest number of Fremantle players in the final team since the concept was introduced in 2012.
The most players selected from Fremantle came in 2020 when Brayshaw joined Sean Darcy and Adam Cerra in the final team.
The fan-voted concept recognises the best 22 players under the age of 22, with those selected in the final team to be presented with a 22under22 jumper.
Fremantle have the second most squad selections this season with five players, just shy of six players selected at Sydney.
Brayshaw is looking to be selected in the final team for a third time in as many years, while Serong has previously been selected in the 40-man squad.
Young, Frederick and Clark have all received their first ever selection in the squad.
For a player to be eligible in the squad they must have played a minimum of 11 games throughout 2022, with players rewarded for their consistency across the season.
Voting is open for seven days from 10 August to 17 August, with the final team to be announced on Wednesday 23 August.
