A team effort is vital for a strong Fremantle performance, according to senior coach Ross Lyon.
Fremantle’s big name players such as Nat Fyfe, Aaron Sandilands, Lachie Neale, David Mundy and Stephen Hill have been instrumental in Freo’s six wins from seven rounds between rounds three to nine.
But Fremantle has lost the past two rounds without Sandilands in the line-up leading to questions that the side is too reliant on certain individuals.
“In any team, you need your best players to play well,” Lyon said.
“Everyone gets expectations to deliver and that’s a lot of the pressure of AFL football.
“But you’ve got to work together so everyone can be at their best, and in those other rounds (three to nine) I thought we were executing together better rather than fighting individual battles.
“So, I expect our collective effort and teamsmanship to be strong like it was in that period than it has been in the past two weeks.”
Lyon quashed speculation that Nat Fyfe was affected by a sore hand during last Sunday’s clash with Collingwood at Domain Stadium.
Fyfe led both sides with 14 contested possessions from his 24 disposals on the day.
"The rumours are he's sore, he's carrying this and that. Nathan plays a physical game," Lyon said.
"I thought he really gave us a chance to win (against Collingwood). The midfield got work after a bit of a slow start.
"He had a bit of a virus last week and he had a bit of a sore sternum, but he was all OK, he played with no painkillers or anything like that.
"Nathan doesn't make excuses and really there's none to offer, and I thought his performance was solid."
