Luke goes fourth

Luke McPharlin will play his 208th game for Freo on Sunday and draw level with Paul Hasleby in fourth place for most club games at Freo. Matthew Pavlich heads the illustrious list with 282 games. Shane Parker played 238 games and Shaun McManus 228.

Angry Roos

Ross Lyon has predicted a fired up North Melbourne outfit this Sunday following a string of heartbreaking losses by Brad Scott’s side this season. The Roos have already blown leads and lost thrillers to top two sides Geelong and Hawthorn. And just recently at Patersons Stadium, a game that had seemed in the bag, was snatched by an incredible Nic Naitanui mark and goal after the siren. That was followed by an unbelievable collapse against Adelaide at Etihad Stadium.

North off the bye

This is the third time in the past three seasons that the Roos play Fremantle after their bye. On the first occasion, in round 4, 2011, Fremantle won by 29 points at Patersons Stadium. North then turned the tables in round 22 that same year, winning by 98 points at Etihad Stadium. On both occasions, Freo had played during the week of North’s bye. Brad Scott’s side won its game after the bye last season, defeating Gold Coast by seven points at Metricon Stadium. Gold Coast had played the week before.

Tendai gets 50

One of Fremantle’s mature-age success stories will play his 50th game at the age of 27 if he is selected this Sunday. Mzungu played at Trinity Aquinas at amateur level before starring for Perth in the WAFL. That led to his AFL opportunity at Freo, which he has taken with both hands. Well done Tendai.

Walters return

Fremantle will hope to regain sublimely talented forward Michael Walters this week. ‘Son Son’ will have to prove his fitness at training on Wednesday and Friday this week before he can resume his season, which has been a success thus far.
