Going up against the top two teams in the AFL, Fremantle may have seen the emergence of Michael Frederick, according to Fox Footy’s David King.
Frederick has been damaging in Freo’s wins against Melbourne and Brisbane, with five goals across the fortnight.
Drafted at no.61 in 2019, Frederick boasts attributes that not many forwards have.
“We've loved watching his development this year and his work rate is often unrewarded,” King said on Fox Footy.
“I don't think the Fremantle players know exactly what they've got in their hands here as an asset.
“His work rate is unreal. He finishes with three goals, 18 disposals, seven score involvements (against Brisbane), that's a pretty special day.
“I think that this guy is the wild card they need, they've got a lot of pressure small forwards but not many teams have got a guy like this.
“An absolute elite runner, a spark and beautiful finisher too.”
Speaking post game after his three goals against Brisbane, Frederick said the crowd of 47,214 gave him the energy to deliver.
"It was unbelievable. That's the biggest I've played in front of, without them we wouldn't have got it done," Frederick said.
"It's good to get two wins on the trot, now we need to keep backing up those wins and play consistent footy."
"They've accidentally found a genuine forward"
