Fremantle can confirm forward Gemma Houghton has taken up an opportunity to join AFLW expansion club Port Adelaide for Season 7 of the NAB AFL Women’s Competition.
An inaugural Fremantle Docker from the 2017 season, Houghton played 46 games for Fremantle, leading the Club’s goalkicking in 2019 and 2021 and earning All Australian honours in 2019 and 2020.
Fremantle’s Head of Football Operations and Performance Bob Murphy wished Houghton all the best at Port Adelaide.
“We are disappointed to lose Gemma as a player for Season 7. She has made a significant contribution to our growth in the AFLW space and enhanced the Club’s proud links to Indigenous culture,” Murphy said.
“We wish her all the best for the next stage of her career.”
