Jordan Clark has heaped praise on a fellow Freo Docker who hails from the south of Perth, with Jye Amiss impressing with two goals on debut in Fremantle’s 78-point win against North Melbourne on Friday.

The no.8 pick in the 2021 NAB AFL Draft, it took the 83kg Amiss five minutes to have an impact, out-marking 97kg Aidan Corr to set up his first AFL goal.

The Mandurah-based Clark said the Busselton-born Amiss brought a quiet confidence to Fremantle’s forward line.

“He's a typical boy from down south, he's pretty laid back and pretty quiet at times but he's got a quiet confidence about him and he believes in himself,” Clark told ABC Grandstand post-game.

“There’s big raps on him and tonight he showed why. He's got a lot of talent for a young bloke.

“For a young key position player, he's got some of the best forward craft that I've seen coming through. That showed when he out bodied his opponent and kicked his first goal, that's hopefully a little insight into the future of what we will see with Jye Amiss.”

Speaking post-game on Fox Footy, Amiss said his debut was a dream come true.

“It was amazing, I couldn’t wait to get out here yesterday after captains run. Just amazing to get the win,” Amiss said.

“It’s a dream come true, since I was a little kid. Good to be out here with the boys and to get the win is amazing.”
