Read some of the numbers that stood out from Fremantle’s 34-point win against GWS on Saturday at Optus Stadium.

Brodie the contested beast
Will Brodie’s 21 contested possessions was the 35th time a Fremantle player has had 21 or more in a game, with Nat Fyfe’s 26 against Adelaide in 2015 leading the way.
With 29 games’ experience (including 25 for Gold Coast), Brodie is the least experienced Fremantle player to get 20 or more in a game, beating Fyfe’s 22 contested possessions against Sydney in 2011 in what was his 33rd AFL game.

Brodie and Switta combine
Both Brodie and Sam Switkowski had three smothers against the Giants, an impressive effort considering that the record for a Fremantle player in a game is five, achieved by Lachie Neale against Adelaide in 2016 and David Mundy against Essendon in 2018.
Switkowski also brought the pressure with eight tackles, which is the equal most of a Freo player this year alongside Andrew Brayshaw's efforts against St Kilda.

Generous Colyer
As well as kicking a goal of his own, Travis Colyer directly contributed to three others with three Goal Assists. The most by a Fremantle player is five, achieved on four occasions by Stephen Hill (2012 v North), Shaun McManus (2007 v Carlton), Jeff Farmer (2006 v WCE) and Michael Walters (2018 v Adelaide).
This isn’t a career record for Colyer however, having four goal assists in Fremantle’s comeback win against St Kilda in 2020 which had 16-minute quarters.

Last minute Logue
A last-minute inclusion, Griffin Logue was also the last line of defence with five intercept marks and nine spoils against the Giants. A Fremantle player has had five intercept marks or more 93 times, and nine spoils or more 70 times - but to achieve at least both in the same game has only happened five other times. Logue is the only player to do it twice.

Average age
Freo's average age jumped from 24.37 to 24.75 for round four, thanks mostly to the return of David Mundy. It meant Freo moved from fielding the second youngest side in round three to the fourth youngest side in round four.
