Fremantle have named their final 22 ahead of Sunday’s season opening clash with Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.

Skipper Nat Fyfe, ruckman Sean Darcy and key forward Matt Taberner were confirmed as unavailable for selection on Thursday, as Fremantle prepare to take a 26-man squad to Adelaide.

Lloyd Meek, Josh Treacy and Darcy Tucker will step in for the injured trio, while experienced leader David Mundy will captain the side in Fyfe’s absence.

Travis Colyer, Mitch Crowden, Neil Erasmus, Brandon Walker have been named as Fremantle’s emergencies.

One of Colyer, Crowden, Erasmus or Walker will be announced as the medical sub one hour before bouncedown.

Senior Coach Justin Longmuir said in Friday’s media conference that all players had been selected based on merit.

"We've picked a really strong team across the board, and I feel like missing those three (Fyfe, Darcy, Taberner) is a great opportunity for other guys who deserve the opportunity," Longmuir said.

"It's definitely not papering over things. Players were picked deserving of their opportunity and have had great pre-seasons.

"I've got full faith in them being able to execute their roles … we're going in really confident."

Bouncedown for the clash is at 1.10pm WST, with the game to be broadcast live into Perth on the Seven Network and nationally on Fox Footy.

You can also watch the game live on Kayo or through the official AFL app.
