Fremantle have teamed up with one of Australia’s most recognisable craft breweries, forging a partnership with Pirate Life for the 2022 season.

Pirate Life first emerged in Adelaide in 2014 but their founders hail from WA and are passionate supporters of Fremantle, with Michael ‘MC’ Cameron a former staff member at the Club and his son Jack being a childhood friend of Club captain Nat Fyfe.

The brewery’s close ties with Fremantle first started in 2015 when Fyfe came on as an early investor.

Since day one, Pirate Life have taken an unapologetic approach to their craft, and in 2020 launched their flagship beer the South Coast Pale Ale, which pays homage to their founders’ pioneering journey across the Nullarbor from WA to Adelaide.

There is a lot for Fremantle fans to look forward to with the Pirate Life partnership, including Pirate Life beer being served at the Club’s four function rooms on game days, including the Pirate Life Pavilion.

Freo will also work with Pirate Life to organise a number of great events for fans throughout the year, with a focus on away game days - and keep an eye out for a number of exciting collaborations in the works!

Fremantle CEO Simon Garlick said the partnership with Pirate Life was especially exciting for Fremantle’s members and supporters.

“Since I first arrived at Fremantle I was consistently blown away by the passion of the Purple Army and it is this very passion that flows through the founders of Pirate Life, so we are obviously excited to be working together this season,” Garlick said.

“As a former staff member, ‘MC’ gets what it means to be a part of the Fremantle Family, and our organisations share a connection with our ambitious aims while remaining authentic, humble and connected to our roots.

“There is a lot to look forward to both on and off the field with Fremantle in 2022, and this new partnership with Pirate Life only adds to that.”

Pirate Life Co-founder and Head of Marketing, Jack Cameron had this to say of the partnership:

“Our whole family have been avid Fremantle supporters for over 20 years. This partnership gives us the opportunity to take the entire Pirate Life team on the ‘Freo’ journey as well, and that’s really exciting.

“It’s not just the on-field success we’re looking forward to this year, but having a bunch of fun with the Purple Army off-field, as well. We know first-hand how passionate they are, and it’ll be an honour introducing them to Pirate Life.”

CUB Central West Sales General Manager, Danny Savage said the future is bright for Pirate Life and Fremantle.

“Carlton & United Breweries have been proud to partner with Fremantle Football Club and WA Footy for over 20 years. We look forward to the next chapter of the relationship as we connect Freo fans with the Pirate Life brand. A very exciting and action packed future ahead of us.”
