Andrew Brayshaw says he’s back to full fitness after recovering from a broken jaw and is ready to take on the upcoming pre-season, which started on Monday for Fremantle’s first to four-year players.
The midfielder missed the final three games of the 2018 season and had to eat food through a straw for more than a month following the round 20 Western Derby at Optus Stadium.
Brayshaw said that football-wise, he’s not feeling any significant after-effects from the injury.
“It’s good (the jaw). For the last month or so, I haven’t really thought much about it,” Brayshaw said.
“Obviously, it was pretty tough for the first couple of weeks leading into the off-season with surgery and everything.
“Since then, I’ve been on the road to recovery and right now I’m feeling 100 per cent.”

Brayshaw credited the Fremantle club dietician for ensuring that the injury wouldn’t be a significant setback in his development.
He added that he’s now back on a regular diet and is not restricted with the food he can eat.
“Our dietician, Jade (Sedgman), looked after me really well and from the next day I pretty much had a guideline of what to eat, what not to eat and how to maintain my body weight,” Brayshaw said.
“I only lost about half a kilo (at the time) to be honest, which from what the dietician said, was really good.”
Brayshaw said his dentist remains optimistic that he won’t lose any teeth from the incident.
“Those five teeth, there will be ongoing dental work,” Brayshaw said.
“I’ve got a meeting with my dentist in December and we just have to keep testing those and at the moment they’re not really responsive but they look alright.
“I can still smile and everything so that’s fine.”
