With the full playing group set to report for training in a week, young midfielder Bailey Banfield said he can’t wait to see Fremantle’s new signings in action.
Banfield resumed training last Monday with his fellow first to fourth-year players.
Nex Monday, he will be joined by the likes of Jesse Hogan, Rory Lobb, Travis Colyer and Reece Conca, who signed with the club during the Free Agency/Trade Period.
Banfield is particularly excited about Fremantle’s new forwards in Hogan and Lobb.
“You’ve got two absolute superstars of the competition coming in,” Banfield said.
“Both are really strong overhead and with their own strengths and I think that any time when you add a couple of guns to your team, it’s a bonus.
“It’s something that the fans can really look forward to and it’s something that we as a club and playing group are really looking forward to.”
While Hogan is recovering from a foot injury, Lobb will step straight into full training.
“Rory seems like a ripping bloke and seeing him running around, he looks super fit and ready to go,” Banfield said.
“It will be exciting to see him and, hopefully, have him clunking some marks this year.”
Fremantle saw the departure of Lachie Neale as a part of a fruitful trade period, but Banfield is motivated to be a part of a young group looking to fill the midfielder’s shoes.
“Lachie’s obviously a loss but we have (Colyer and Conca) coming in and we’ve still got Aaron (Sandilands) running around and (Nat) Fyfe as well.
“I think we’ll still be really strong as a midfield group, having Andy (Brayshaw) and Adam (Cerra) as well running through there, we’ll get a bit of youth hopefully.
“We’ll look to keep improving.”
