AFLW premiership player Kellie Gibson says she aims to salute again at the top level upon her arrival to Fremantle.
Gibson was one of Adelaide’s two marquee players in 2017 and was instrumental as the Crows won the inaugural AFL Women’s premiership.
The 21-year-old kicked the opening goal of the 2017 AFLW Grand Final against Brisbane with a brilliant running snap after just 15 seconds
Gibson told the The West Australian that she is focusing on improving her game for the 2018 season.
“I hope I bring a good contribution to the team ... down forward, kicking some goals and being a key forward down there and hopefully through the midfield,” said Gibson on thewest.com.au.
“I am concentrating on how great I can be. I’m a young player and I’ve got a lot to learn and develop. If I can get better for this season and help Freo out, hopefully, I can go back-to-back with premierships.”
Gibson is joined by fellow West Aussie Alex Williams as Freo’s newest recruits for the 2018 season.
Williams, a former GWS Giant, said she was delighted to have the opportunity to play for the side she grew up supporting.
“I learnt a lot about myself over there (in Sydney), and a lot about my football,” Williams said.
“I’ll bring some defensive knowledge. I feel that I was a bit of a leader in the defence. I think I’ll bring that back with me.
“I’ve been a Freo supporter forever. It’s awesome to come back and play for them. It’s a dream really.”
