Fremantle and Woodside have extended their partnership, with the co-major partner continuing on until the 2023 season.
Woodside have been a major partner of Fremantle since 2010 and immediately extended their support to the Club’s AFLW team for the inaugural season in 2017.
A key part of the partnership is Woodside’s important work as the Club’s Indigenous Program Partner. In 2021, this was highlighted by the mesmerising half-time Wagyl performance from more than 30 performers from Go Cultural during Fremantle’s Sir Doug Nicholls Round game against the Western Bulldogs.
Fremantle CEO Simon Garlick said Woodside’s support of Fremantle has gone well beyond supporting the Club’s football pursuits in the AFL and AFLW.
“It’s really important for Fremantle to have Woodside extend their longstanding partnership until 2023,” Garlick said.
“This support remained unwavering during the past two COVID-impacted seasons and the extension is a further commitment to the Fremantle cause.
“As our Indigenous Program Partner we have a shared commitment to reconciliation and Woodside has worked with the Club on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander initiatives and consults with the Club on the development and execution of its Reconciliation Action Plans.
“Woodside have always been eager to show their purple pride, showcasing how we are ‘Better Together’ as seen along the Graham Farmer Freeway on the way to Optus Stadium, as well showing their support for Fremantle’s AFLW and AFL teams throughout the year.
“Additionally, our staff also continually benefit from our shared knowledge and information around men’s and women’s health, leadership and culture and community engagement.”
Woodside CEO Meg O’Neill said the company was delighted to extend its partnership with the Fremantle Dockers.
“The past decade has demonstrated that Woodside and the Fremantle Football Club are indeed ‘Better Together’ as our partnership has evolved in important ways over this time,” O’Neill said.
“Since joining Woodside I have become an avid Freo fan. The club has an exciting period ahead and I am very pleased Woodside will continue its support as a major partner.”
