Freo’s annual Junior Members Christmas Party at Fremantle Oval took defender Zac Dawson down memory lane.
More than 1000 junior members joined in the Christmas cheer with Freo players signing autographs and taking part in the special activities for the kids.
Dawson reminisced about attending junior clinics in his younger days.
“It reminds me of back when I was a kid and coming to these sorts of things to see my heroes and the guys I idolised when I was younger,” he said.
“I grew up supporting Hawthorn, so I went to a few clinics with Shane Crawford and those sort of guys, so today definitely reminds me of that.”
He also pointed out how much the players enjoyed giving back to their younger fans.
“I think when you see how happy the kids are it’s pretty easy to put a smile on your face, to kick with them and interact,” Dawson said.
“It’s not that much effort when you see how happy it makes them.”
The free event also included inflatable goals and marking stations, face painting, a giant slide and also a special appearance from Santa.
